Mesothelioma

By now your probably wondering about the increase in treatments there are exactly three approaches to treat this mean disease …… Surgery , Radiation , Chemotherapy….there are also six courses of the treatments

*The type of mesothelima and location of the tumor

*The size of the tumor

*The degree to which cancer has spread or mestastasized

*The stages of cancer – beginning , advanced,etc.

*The age of the patient

*The overall physical health of the patient

As much as these are important things to look after while having such a disease the ways of treatment are way more important first we have …

Surgery: In this case surgery is used for two things the first  is to try and cure the patient or in other words to cure the disease and the second is to keep the patient comfortable and loving life.

Radiation:Usually this treatment is used when the patient’s health can’t handle the effects of chemotherapy or surgery so they go with radiation because it seems to have fewer side effects .There are two types of Radiation therapy:

1.External beam therapy: its usually prefered to check for Mesothelioma because it uses a beam from outside the body which doesn’t effect the patients health in anyway .

2.Brachytherapy: its not always prefered for Mesothelioma because its radioactive and it goes straight to the lung.

Chemotherapy: Is like radiation because it helps sooth the patient for a while but doesn’t cure it . Its usually given as a pill or injected although in this case of cancer its better given as a pill also there some other medication given to patients with certain side effects.
